The Head of State decorates the Chinese Minister of Defense medal of Commander of the Great Star of Djibouti, the highest national award

The Head of State, H.E.M. Ismail Omar Guelleh, has received today the Chinese defense minister, general of an army corps Chang Wanquan, who had a visit of 48 hours in Djibouti.

 

The Chinese Defense Minister and his delegation including the Chief of Staff of the Chinese navy, vice-Admiral Du Jingchen were introduced at the Presidential Palace by their Djiboutian counterpart Hassan Darar Houffaneh.

 

In addition to the discussions between the two parties that led to address several common topics of interest, the interview was marked by the decoration of the Chinese defense minister who was raised by President Ismail Omar Guelleh to the rank of Commander of Great Star of Djibouti, the highest national distinction.

 

During their discussions, the Head of State and his interlocutor agreed with the excellent relation of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, as well as the privileged partnership that has grown stronger in recent years.

 

The security situation in the sub-region has also been the focus of the discussion between H.E.M. President Ismail Omar Guelleh and General Chang Wanquan.

 

The interview took place in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, the head of national security, Mr. Hassan Said Khaireh, and the Chief of General Staff Djiboutian Armed Forces, General Zakaria Cheikh Ibrahim.

 

For the chinese part, on the occasion were presented the Ambassador of China accredited to Djibouti Mr. Fu Huaqiang.
The visit to Djibouti of the Chinese defense minister is finally an opportunity for both countries to strengthen their military cooperation through an important agreement that was signed today.
